Network slowdown on 10G LAN connections
Problem Description
Network performance may slow down on 10G LAN connections after installing WireSock Secure Connect.
Root Cause
The core issue stems from how WireSock Secure Connect and other VPN clients interact with network adapters. By default, WireSock Secure Connect binds to all available network interfaces and disables jumbo frames and certain network card task offload features to ensure stable and consistent packet transmission. However, when it binds to 10Gbps adapters used exclusively for LAN access, these restrictions can unnecessarily degrade LAN performance.
Solution
To prevent the VPN from interfering with the high-speed LAN connections, the user should disable the WireSock NDIS filter driver on the 10Gbps adapters:
- Click
> Settings
> Network & Internet
> Network and Sharing Center
.
- Click on Change adapter settings.
- Right-click on each 10Gbps LAN connection (192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2) that are not used for the Internet connection and select Properties.
- Locate the WireSock NDIS filter driver in the list.
- Uncheck the filter driver to disable it for these adapters.
- Click OK and restart the network interfaces.
