Windows WiFI Hotspot Settings

Startup

Enable application autostart

  • Automatically starts the WireSock Secure Connect as soon as windows is started.

Start minimized

  • This option controls whether the client should launch minimized. It will keep running and be available as a small icon in the system tray.

Connect on startup

  • WireSock Secure Connect tries to reconnect to the profile that was connected before the app shut down.

Run process as administrator

  • Run WireSock Secure Connect with elevated privileges. Without these privileges, the app can only tunnel processes that are running under the current user.

Application

Minimize app to tray on close

  • When the user closes the application, it minimizes to the system tray, where its icon remains visible. Enable Junk Packets for all profiles

Junk packets are a DPI protection approach that works with a generic WireGuard server. This method allows the transmission of junk packets before the WireGuard handshake, making WireGuard traffic less detectable by DPI systems. The junk packet settings are determined by the Jc, Jmin, Jmax, and Jd parameters (Jc, Jmin, and Jmax correspond to the AmneziaWG protocol extension). The default values are Jc = 3, Jmin = 50, Jmax = 1000 and Jd=0.

This option enables junk packets for all profiles using the default values. You can specify individual parameters for each profile explicitly on the profile edit page.

Enable Virtual Adapter Mode

WireSock Virtual Adapter Mode creates a dedicated virtual network interface to handle VPN traffic, offering better isolation, compatibility, and control. Unlike Transparent Mode, which intercepts traffic at the packet level , Virtual Adapter Mode provides a standard network interface, improving compatibility with certain applications. However, it requires elevated privileges to create and manage the virtual adapter, whereas Transparent Mode operates with lower system impact and does not require administrative access.

See more details about Virtual Adapter and Transparent mode in a separate article.

Enable automatic reconnect

Automatically reconnect when the VPN connection is lost. This feature ensures a stable and persistent VPN tunnel, even if temporary network disruptions occur.

Connection timeout

How long the app tries to connect to a VPN server before giving up. If set to Continuous Retry, the app retries indefinitely. Avalible options:

  • 10 sec
  • 30 sec
  • 1 min
  • 2 min
  • Continuous Retry

Application language

You can change languages in the application. Under Language, select the language you want to change to.

Windows WiFI Hotspot Settings

Click OK to confirm. Application will change to your selected language after you close the app and launch it again.

Log Level

Logs can help troubleshoot connectivity and application issues. You can adjust the application log level, ranging from "Log connection status only" to "Log all messages," which includes connection events within the tunnel. Please note that enabling "Log all messages" may impact application performance and increase memory usage. You can view the current log records in the "Logs" tab. The application also saves logs to files located in the directory: %LOCALAPPDATA%\WireSock Foundation\WireSock Secure Connect\Logs.

Log Limit

You can limit the number of log lines displayed in the "Logs" tab. Increasing this limit will provide greater log visibility but may also increase the application's memory usage.

Application update

Set how often the app should check for a new version.

  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly
  • Never
